It is really unfortunate that the OLPC now runs the proprietary operating system from Redmond. They have bastardized the XO and made it into yet another piece of hardware with no intrinsic value to anyone but Redmondsoft. Sugar UI running with meshed wifi, shareable files, python programming, video, audio, tablet features etc etc, and all running on Fedora targeted at breaking the circle of poverty, now is a play ground for more money grab and killing innovation.
I still have hope that Negroponte will just let this Redmond experiment be just that – to satisfy the Gatesian and Ballmerian egos. Take whatever money they throw at the project, but continue to innovate with Sugar and Linux. What’s that smell? Microsoft greed!
